Job summary

Wigan & Leigh College is seeking an experienced electrician to teach electrical installation across Levels 1 to 3. You will deliver practical and theoretical lessons, guiding students toward apprenticeships and first employment in the trade.

The role requires a vocational qualification in Electrical Installation, current industry experience, and a teaching qualification or willingness to train. You’ll work across multiple sites with flexibility and commitment to safeguarding.

Qualifications

• Vocational qualification in Electrical Installation or related area.
• Experience as an electrician.
• Teaching qualification or willingness to train.
• GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or equivalent.
• Ability to use IT and learning technologies for teaching.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver lessons across Levels 1 to 3, practical and theory.
• Teach standards, regulations, and methods relevant to electricians.
• Mark work, give feedback, and use assessments to shape teaching.
• Act as Personal Tutor supporting students to next steps.
• Contribute to curriculum development and school activities.
• Keep trade knowledge current as regulations evolve.
