Job summary

Colchester Institute is seeking a Lecturer - Course Leader for Electrical Installation to shape the electricians of the future. You will deliver high-quality teaching, assess learner work and support apprentices, while contributing to course development and quality improvement within the Mechanical and Electrical Services team.

The role welcomes those with substantial hands-on electrical experience and a willingness to obtain teaching qualifications where needed; full training will be provided

Qualifications

• Essential: Level 3 Electrical Installation qualification (or equivalent), including NVQ and AM2.
• Essential: Teaching qualification, or willingness to complete within 3 years of employment (or 3 years from first available course).
• Essential: Assessor Award (TAQA) or willingness to achieve in post.
• Essential: IQA Level 4 Award or willingness to achieve in post.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment in Electrical Installation.
• Mark learner work, design assessments and learning materials.
• Monitor learner standards per awarding body requirements and collaborate with the Assistant Area Head.
• Use e-portfolios to track learner progress and maintain records.
• Provide academic and pastoral support through ILPs and apprentice supervision.
• Manage allocated units and ensure programme requirements are met across learner groups.
• Support the Assistant Area Head in delivering Electrical Installation standards.
