Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd in the North West is seeking an Electrical Installation Assessor to support apprentices and learners through their programmes. You'll assess competence against electrical installation standards using your trade experience to judge the quality of work in front of you.

You'll carry out assessments in the workshop and in the workplace, review progress with learners and their employers, and make sure portfolio evidence meets awarding body requirements.

Qualifications

• A Level 3 qualification or equivalent in electrical installation.
• Substantial industry experience as an electrician.
• Good knowledge of current wiring regulations.
• Strong communication and organisation.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out practical and workplace assessments of learner competence.
• Conducting progress reviews with apprentices and their employers.
• Gathering, verifying and marking portfolio evidence against awarding body requirements.
• Supporting learners with wiring regulations, testing procedures and health and safety standards.
• Preparing learners for end-point assessment.
• Maintaining accurate assessment records and tracking learner progress.

About the Role

A further education provider in the North West is looking for an Electrical Installation Assessor to support apprentices and learners through their programmes. You'll assess competence against electrical installation standards, using your own trade experience to judge the quality of work in front of you.

You'll carry out assessments in the workshop and in the workplace, review progress with learners and their employers, and make sure portfolio evidence meets awarding body requirements. You'll keep accurate records of progress and achievement throughout.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out practical and workplace assessments of learner competence.


• Conducting progress reviews with apprentices and their employers.


• Gathering, verifying and marking portfolio evidence against awarding body requirements.


• Supporting learners with wiring regulations, testing procedures and health and safety standards.


• Preparing learners for end-point assessment.

What We're Looking For

Essential:

• A Level 3 qualification or equivalent in electrical installation


• Substantial industry experience as an electrician


• Good knowledge of current wiring regulations


• Strong communication and organisation

Desirable (but not essential):

• An assessing qualification, or a willingness to work towards one


• Previous experience of assessing or teaching


• IQA qualification
