Job description

Our client, a major public sector organisation, is seeking an experienced Electrical Inspector (Clerk of Works) to join their Project Delivery team. This is a crucial site-based role supporting planned improvement programmes and adaptations across housing schemes.

You'll play a vital part in ensuring electrical works meet the highest standards for compliance, safety, and workmanship.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular inspections across multiple construction sites
• Ensure compliance with statutory regulations, health and safety requirements, and contract specifications
• Record site findings and submit accurate weekly reports
• Monitor materials and workmanship quality throughout project phases
• Liaise with Project Managers and Contract Administrators regarding variations, defects, or risks
• Assist with measurement, handover processes, and final reporting

Essential Criteria:

Candidates must meet one of the following:

• A degree in a technical/construction discipline + 2 years' post-qualification experience, or
• A BTEC Higher Certificate/Diploma in a technical/construction field + 3 years' experience, or
• 4 years of directly relevant construction maintenance experience (without formal qualifications)

In addition, candidates must demonstrate:

• Strong technical reporting and communication skills
• Sound judgement in interpreting regulations and making decisions on site
• Effective collaboration with project teams
• Familiarity with the 17th Edition (or later) electrical standards
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and mobile/digital reporting systems
• A valid driving licence and access to personal transport
