What you'll be doing?
As the Engineering Improvement Business Lead, you will oversee and lead our electrical strategy, ensuring safety, compliance, efficiency, and future readiness of electrical systems. Your role involves driving best practices, standardizing processes, supporting operational efficiency, and influencing executive decisions through insights and analysis. Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing a group-wide electrical compliance and improvement strategy, conducting risk assessments, audits, and gap analyses, and liaising with regulatory bodies.
- Providing technical leadership to engineering controllers and site electrical teams, ensuring maintenance, fault-finding, and process improvements are standardized and effective.
- Monitoring electrical reliability, downtime, and failure trends, initiating continuous improvement initiatives, and leading energy efficiency projects including power optimization and sustainable energy solutions.
- Leading electrical upgrades and automation projects to enhance production efficiency.
- Reporting to the Executive Team on electrical system performance, compliance risks, and investment opportunities, aligning strategies with business goals.
- Advising on electrical risk management and future-proofing initiatives.
- Leading group-wide electrical projects, including control system upgrades, safety enhancements, and digitalization efforts, collaborating across departments to promote smart manufacturing and predictive maintenance.
- Managing electrical compliance across all manufacturing and logistics sites, requiring travel to sites as needed.
What you'll need:
- Degree or Higher National Certification/Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field.
- Chartered status or working towards it is preferred.
- 15+ years' experience in electrical engineering, with senior leadership experience.
- Expertise in PLC systems, automation, and energy management.
- Experience in electrical distribution or generation sectors.
- HV, transformer, or switchgear experience.
- Proven leadership of multi-site teams and stakeholder influence.
- Understanding of food industry compliance, electrical regulations, and safety standards, including H&S legislation and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to communicate with executives.
- Experience delivering business improvement programs.
- Knowledge of or ability to use software like ProDesign for strength & capability modeling.
