Job summary

Actemium Automation Nottingham, part of VINCI Energies, seeks an Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to craft control hardware for industrial clients across the UK. You will design panels, MCCs, and layouts, creating schematics and BOMs while ensuring standards compliance and safe, cost-efficient solutions.

You will collaborate with project teams, perform site surveys, support testing, and contribute to design reviews and client meetings.

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical hardware design within industrial automation, process, or manufacturing environments.
• Proficient with CAD design tool EPLAN; AutoCAD desirable.
• Knowledge of electrical protection, circuit design, and industrial control systems (PLCs, SCADA, automation equipment).
• Understanding of BS7671 and EN60204-1 standards.
• HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical hardware solutions including control panels, MCCs, and system layouts to meet client specs and standards.
• Produce schematics, wiring diagrams, BOMs, cable schedules, and layout drawings using CAD software.
• Collaborate with project managers, software engineers, and on-site teams for seamless delivery.
• Select and specify components considering safety, functionality and cost.
• Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to inform design development.
• Ensure designs comply with health and safety regulations and relevant standards.
• Support workshop build, panel testing and commissioning as required.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and client meetings.
• Assist in problem-solving during manufacturing and installation.
