Job summary

Electricity North West is seeking an Electrical Fitting Trainer to design, deliver and continuously improve technical training for employees, apprentices and contractors across distribution and transmission activities.

You will assess competence, develop learning materials and provide expert guidance to operation teams while upholding safety standards and industry regulations.

Qualifications

  • Level 2 qualification in electrical discipline.
  • Significant practical experience in electrical fitting up to 11kV and 132kV.
  • Experience delivering technical training and coaching.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards and legislation.
  • Experience developing training materials and activities.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital learning systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

  • Design, deliver and improve technical training for employees, apprentices and contractors.
  • Deliver training in electrical fitting, substation, distribution and transmission.
  • Conduct trade tests, competence assessments and coaching.
  • Develop and maintain training materials and learner records.
  • Provide technical guidance to operations and stakeholders.
  • Support policies, procedures and safe working practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and incident reviews.
  • Ensure training is delivered safely with suitable equipment and facilities.
  • Maintain personal technical competence and industry knowledge.

A Fantastic Opportunity: Electrical Fitting Trainer

As an Electrical Fitting Instructor, you will design and deliver engaging technical training and assessments that help employees, apprentices and contractors develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to work safely and effectively across our network.

You will provide practical coaching, competence assessments and technical guidance, supporting high standards of safety, compliance and operational performance. Working closely with colleagues across the business, you will contribute to the development of training programmes, learning materials and best practice, helping to build and maintain a skilled and capable workforce.

What you'll be doing:
  • Design, deliver and continuously improve technical training and assessment programmes for employees, apprentices and contractors.
  • Deliver training in electrical fitting, substation, distribution and transmission activities, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards.
  • Carry out trade tests, competence assessments and workplace coaching to support employee development and authorisation processes.
  • Develop and maintain training materials, assessment tools and learner records.
  • Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise to operational teams and stakeholders.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures and safe working practices.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities, including lessons learned, audits, incident reviews and operational change programmes.
  • Ensure training is delivered safely and that training equipment, facilities and resources are maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Maintain personal technical competence and industry knowledge to ensure training remains current and effective.
What you'll need:
  • Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) in an electrical discipline.
  • Significant practical experience in electrical fitting, including distribution networks up to 11kV and transmission networks up to 132kV.
  • Experience delivering technical training, coaching, mentoring or assessing workplace competence.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety standards, safe systems of work and relevant industry legislation.
  • Experience developing or delivering training materials and practical learning activities.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly and effectively to a range of audiences.
  • Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital learning or competence management systems.
  • Ability to obtain Substation Access authorisation.
  • Full UK driving licence.
