Job summary

Hewett Recruitment is seeking an Electrical Fitter / Panel Wirer for a temporary project in Worcestershire. You will build and electrically wire specialist engineered equipment from technical drawings, with day shifts and Friday early finish. Pay is £20.00 per hour.

The role requires hands-on experience in panel wiring, electrical assembly and reading electrical drawings. A recognised electrical qualification, City & Guilds certification or equivalent training is preferred.

• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
• City & Guilds certification, electrical apprenticeship or equivalent practical training.

Responsibilities

• Build and electrically fit specialist engineering equipment in a workshop.
• Panel wiring and machine electrical fitting.
• Read and work from electrical drawings and build specifications.
• Install electrical components, cables and controls.
• Assist testing of completed equipment under the guidance of a Project Engineer.
• Maintain tools and keep work areas clean, safe and organised.

Electrical Fitter / Panel Wirer

Temporary Contract | £20.00 per hour | Day Shifts | Friday Early Finish

Contract: Temporary project assignment for several months
Pay: £20.00 per hour
Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:30am to 4:30pm; Friday, 7:30am to 1:00pm

Hewett Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of an established engineering and manufacturing business seeking an experienced Electrical Fitter / Panel Wirer.

This temporary opportunity has arisen due to additional project work, and the successful candidate will support the existing workshop team over the coming months. The position will involve building and electrically fitting specialist engineered equipment from technical drawings and specifications.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on experience in panel wiring, electrical assembly, machine wiring or electrical fitting who is available for a project-based temporary assignment.

Key responsibilities

• Building and electrically fitting specialist engineering equipment within a workshop environment.
• Panel wiring and machine electrical fitting.
• Reading and working accurately from electrical drawings, schematics and build specifications.
• Installing electrical components, cables, controls and associated equipment.
• Supporting the testing of completed equipment under the guidance of a Project Engineer.
• Recording relevant test and equipment information accurately.
• Monitoring build progress and highlighting potential delays, shortages or quality concerns.
• Reporting any missing, damaged or unsuitable components.
• Helping to organise parts, materials, consumables and project equipment.
• Maintaining tools and equipment in a clean, complete and safe condition.
• Keeping the workshop and individual work areas clean, organised and safe.
• Working in accordance with quality procedures, health and safety requirements and safe systems of work.
• Supporting wider installation, service or commissioning activities where required.

Essential skills and experience

• Previous hands-on experience as an Electrical Fitter, Panel Wirer, Electrical Assembler or within a similar electrical build position.
• Practical experience of panel wiring or machine electrical fitting.
• Ability to read and work confidently from electrical drawings and schematics.
• Experience working within an engineering, manufacturing, machine-building or production environment.
• A recognised electrical qualification, City & Guilds certification, electrical apprenticeship or equivalent practical training.
• A good understanding of electrical safety and safe isolation procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce work to a consistently high standard.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a workshop and project team.
• Reliable, organised and able to communicate any build or component issues clearly.

Desirable experience

The following would be beneficial but is not essential:

• Experience working with mechanical rotating equipment or industrial machinery.
• Electrical control panel build experience.
• Testing, installation or commissioning experience.
• Experience working on bespoke machinery or engineered equipment.
• Knowledge of hazardous-area or Ex equipment.
• COMPEX Ex01-04 certification.
• Previous experience supporting, mentoring or supervising other fitters.
