Job summary

Box Recruitment Group is recruiting an Electric Motor Winder/Fitter on behalf of a long-established engineering business in Manchester. You will dismantle, repair, wind, assemble and test a range of AC/DC motors and rotating equipment while supporting site activities.

The role involves working overtime on a rota basis and holding an engineering qualification related to motor repair. A full clean driving licence and prior workshop/site experience are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in electric motor repairs, dismantling, inspecting and assembling AC/DC motors and rotating equipment.
• Willing to work overtime about one week per month (rota).
• Engineering qualification related to electric motors/rotating equipment.
• Previous workshop experience in a related role.
• Full clean Driving Licence.
• Experience at site-related activities.

Responsibilities

• Dismantle and repair AC/DC motors, gearboxes, pumps, generators, alternators and other rotating machinery.
• Dismantling, winding, and assembling motors and related equipment following repair.
• Test units after repair and assembly; perform static and dynamic tests.
• Complete documentation and report faults with test results at all stages.
• Inspect and test motor subassemblies like brakes and switches.
• Prepare commutators for winding and post-winding processes.
• Assist with the call-out system and site-based activities.

About the Opportunity

Box Recruitment Group is recruiting on behalf of a long-established engineering business with an excellent reputation for the repair, maintenance, and refurbishment of electric motors and rotating equipment. Due to continued growth and customer demand, our client is seeking an experienced Electric Motor Winder/Fitter to join their skilled engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with experience in electric motor repairs, dismantling, inspecting and assembling AC/DC motors, gearboxes, pumps, generators, alternators, dan units and other rotating machinery

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for the dismantling, repair, winding, assembly, and testing of a wide range of electric motors and rotating equipment. The role also involves supporting site-based activities and participating in the company's call-out rota, ensuring customers receive a high-quality and responsive engineering service.

Duties

• Dismantle and repair a wide range of AC/DC motors, gearboxes, pumps, generators, alternators, dan units and other rotating machinery
• To have additional knowledge and experience of gearboxes, pumps, fan units, generators and other assemblies that include electric motors/windings;
• Testing skills - both static and dynamic testing; to include surge testing, core loss testing, pump tests, dynamic no load testing etc.
• To complete the relevant documentation and report on their faults (some may include environmental discharge), including test results at all stages of repair;
• To inspect and test motor subassemblies, e.g. brakes, switches, force ventilation units;
• To assemble motors and other rotating equipment following repair;
• To test units following repair and assembly;
• To be able to clean and prepare commutators for winding, including post winding processes such as undercutting etc.
• To take part in the call out system.
• To be able to help in attending site with the various site-based activities carried out by the department.

Must have

• Electric motor repairs, dismantling, inspecting and assembling AC/DC motors, gearboxes, pumps, generators, alternators, dan units and other rotating machinery - experience essential
• Happy to work overtime one week per month (rota)
• Engineering qualification related to the repair of electric motors/rotating equipment.
• Previous workshop experience in a related role.
• Full clean Driving Licence
• Experience at site related activities.
