80438 - Electrical Fitter

This electrical fitter will report to the project engineer and will work within network operations based in our Canning Town office. You will be a permanent employee in our UK Power Networks team.

Salary and Benefits: £43,904 plus Inner London Allowance, benefits, and a 3% bonus.

Additional Requirements: Successful candidates will need to undertake a medical and DBS reference check.

Job Purpose:

To work as part of a team, carrying out duties related to Primary and Grid substation construction at voltages between 400V and 132kV.

Principal Accountabilities:

1. Installation and testing of plant, apparatus, and cables associated with the Grid, Primary, and Distribution network.
2. Fault location and repair of plant, apparatus, and cables.
3. Supervise work undertaken by contractors.
4. Ensure staff work safely and demonstrate a strong safety culture.
5. Use IT equipment effectively.
6. Supervise construction/maintenance staff within their team.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• City and Guilds 2339 – Level 2 Certificate in Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent.
• Completed an approved Apprenticeship in Electrical Fitting, Cable Jointing, or Electrical Installation.
• ECS Installation Electrical Card/EUSR SHEA Power or equivalent.
• Flexible team player with problem-solving skills.
• Clean driving license.
• Good understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental Legislation.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

• City and Guilds 2382 – 18th Edition.
• MEWP operator license.
• PASMA qualification.
• Experience working within a DNO environment.
• SMSTS competence.
• IOSH Working Safely certification.
• Gas awareness training.
• Confined space training.
• Receive PTW and manage site safety.
• Ability to move/use cranes, scaffolds, ladders, and long objects in HV environments.

Scope and Development:

You will play an important role in the safe completion of Capital & Connections Works Programme, potentially working at various UK Power Networks locations. Training opportunities are available for skill enhancement and progression, with potential salary increases upon higher authorisation levels.
