Job summary

United Utilities is seeking an Electrical Field Service Engineer based near Penrith, Cumbria. The role involves hands‑on maintenance, fault finding and improvements to critical water assets across sites, with a home-based start and a company van for site travel.

You will work to keep assets reliable and compliant, with opportunities to contribute to projects and process improvements. The ideal candidate has proven industrial electrical experience, qualifications at NVQ3/City & Guilds 3, and a

Qualifications

Industrial electrical maintenance and fault finding.
Pumps – installation, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repair in an operational environment.
400V three‑phase systems – working on motors and motor starters.
Control panels – fault-finding, modification and wiring understanding.
Industrial automated systems – exposure to automated plant or process control.

Responsibilities

Carrying out planned preventative maintenance and reactive electrical works.
Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults to minimise downtime and ensure asset reliability.
Working on a range of industrial electrical systems across operational sites.
Supporting capital and operational project work.
Working safely in confined spaces and high‑risk environments.
Collaborating with internal teams and supervising electrical contractors.
Recording maintenance activities and complying with safety procedures.
Participating in a standby rota and standby payments where applicable.
