Job summary

MTrec Technical are recruiting a permanent Electrical Estimator for a prestigious manufacturing client based in Gateshead. You will prepare detailed cost estimates for projects, reviewing specs and drawings to craft accurate, competitive bids.

Working closely with sales and engineering, you will monitor budgets during tender, keep records, and provide reports on costing accuracy. The role offers dayshift hours, free on-site parking, and a streamlined interview process.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or above in an electrical discipline or equivalent industry experience.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Attention to detail with ability to produce accurate estimates.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for projects including materials, labour, and other associated costs.
• Review project specifications and drawings to provide accurate and competitive bids.
• Work closely with sales and engineering, ensuring the smooth handover of won projects.
• Evaluate project requirements, scope of work, and technical details to ensure that all estimates are comprehensive and aligned with customer expectations.
• Monitor project budgets during the tender phase and ensure that all estimates are kept within defined limits.
• Maintain accurate records of all estimates, tenders, and communications.
• Provide detailed reports to senior management and stakeholders on project performance and costing accuracy.
• Keep up to date with market trends, competitor pricing, and new technologies to ensure estimates remain competitive and current.
• Identify and evaluate risks associated with pricing and project delivery, proposing solutions to mitigate these risks.
