Electrical Engineering Manager – SME Leadership Position – Central Engineering

Data Centres – Critical Environment

Locations include Essex, Herts, Slough, and EMEA

As Electrical Engineering Manager, SME Leader, you will be part of our Central Engineering team, leading a group of Electrical Engineers. Your team and you will be responsible for all electrical systems within your area of responsibility, acting as an interface to Data Centre Operations, Design teams, OEMs, and customers. You will be responsible for authoring and deploying Electrical Safety Rules, ensuring high efficiency, reliability, and standard delivery. You will report to the Senior Electrical Engineer - EMEA.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage and develop Electrical Engineering for the UK and Western Europe (UK, Netherlands, Spain, France).
  2. Lead the Electrical Engineering team, managing workload and team growth.
  3. Ensure effective time management and quality of deliverables from stakeholders.
  4. Maintain client-focused stakeholder management with regular updates for clarity.
  5. Conduct root-cause analyses and implement lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  6. Develop training programs for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with standards and regional requirements.
  7. Act as 2nd and 3rd level escalation point for electrical and control issues.
  8. Develop and approve SOP/EOP documents and manage MOP, SOP, and EOP within the CAB process.
  9. Manage electrical safety rules, ensuring safety and harmonization across standards.
  10. Collaborate with Design, External Consultants, and OEMs to ensure effective solutions.

Candidate Profile

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical engineering or related field; HND/HNC acceptable.
  • Proven leadership in managing electrical engineering teams, including apprentices.
  • Experience in mission-critical environments, customer-facing roles, and electrical safety standards.
  • Extensive experience with electrical systems such as HV, LV, UPS, Standby Power, BMS/EMS, and control systems.
  • Experience as a High Voltage Authorising Engineer (HV AE) is preferred.
  • Technical expertise in large-scale electrical systems and safety standards.
  • Proven record of electrical efficiency improvements, especially in Data Centres.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform root-cause analysis and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in developing training programs and familiarity with SOP/EOP and CAB processes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and proactive approach.
  • C Eng Status or in progress to achieve.
  • Fluent in English; additional languages (Dutch, Spanish, French, German) are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% nationally and internationally.
