Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Lead Presales Electrical Engineer for Londonderry, Derry. You will join the Presales team to design data center electrical power architectures, balancing traditional power systems with AI-enabled design approaches.

In this role you will work with mechanical, structural and architectural specialists to translate customer requirements into modular, repeatable solutions and compelling quotations for business-critical applications across Europe.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
• 5+ years of experience in electrical power system design.
• Proficiency in sizing and specification of electrical equipment and installations.
• Knowledge of load calculations, short-circuit and protection coordination study calculations and modeling tools.
• Solid written and oral communication to work across multiple Engineering and Manufacturing teams.
• PC skills: Windows, MS Office, AutoCAD.
• Active English language skills required.

Responsibilities

• Concept design of data center electrical power systems and architecture, including traditional and AI design requirements.
• LV power distribution (low voltage switchgear, UPS, busbar) and MV distribution (switchgear, transformers).
• Auxiliary systems (AC, DC), lightning protection, diesel gensets.
• Electrical load calculations, arc flash, short circuit and protection coordination studies.
• Electrical single-line diagrams and related documentation.
• Understand and apply relevant codes and standards for electrical equipment and installations.
• Coordinate with architectural, structural, HVAC, controls and fire protection disciplines.
• Read and interpret RFP/tender documents and develop modular data center technical solutions and quotations.

Due to continued growth, Vertiv is seeking to recruit ambitious and motivated Electrical Engineering Lead to join the Presales team in Londonderry, Derry.

Position Summary

The Lead Presales Electrical Engineer is an important part of an interdisciplinary team of technical experts (mechanical, structural, architectural) to bring together schematic design for Data center (Hyperscale, Enterprise, Colocation, Edge, CLS) and Critical Infrastructure facilities. Position includes applying theoretical knowledge, practical engineering skills, as well as communicational skills in the fields of Clean Energy, AI and Data center design.

Responsibilities

• Concept design of Data center electrical power systems and architecture, with traditional and AI design requirements, which includes:
• LV power distribution (low voltage switchgear, uninterruptible power supply systems, busbar systems)
• MV power distribution systems (medium voltage switchgear and transformers)
• Auxiliary systems (AC, DC), lightning protection systems, diesel gensets….
• Electrical load calculations, arc flash, short circuit and protection coordination study calculations and modeling tools
• Electrical single-line diagrams
• Understanding of relevant codes and standards for electrical power equipment and installations
• Coordination with other technical disciplines (architectural, structural, HVAC, controls, fire protection)
• Reading and understanding RFP and tender documents
• Problem solving and interpretation of customer requirements in proposed solutions
• Modular Data center technical solutions and quotations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years experience
• Proficient in Electrical power system design
• Sizing and specification of electrical equipment and installations
• Knowledge of electrical load calculations, short circuit and protection coordination study calculations and modeling tools
• Solid communication skills, both written and oral, to work across multiple Engineering and Manufacturing teams to bring architectures and concepts to deployment
• PC skills: active user of Windows, MS Office incl. Excel (A), Word (A), AutoCAD
• Active English
