Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Birmingham invites an Engineering Intern for a Summer 2027 placement to gain hands-on experience in electrical engineering, design and project support.

You will assist with filing, data entry, documentation and presentations, while working with the Transmission & Distribution group on power delivery projects.

The program seeks a 2.1 or higher, strong communication and leadership, and a proactive learner eager to grow in this global engineering firm.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Currently enrolled in post-secondary education or certificate program in related field.
• Minimum of a 2.1 strongly preferred.
• Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and community involvement.
• Basic Microsoft Office knowledge (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the location.

Responsibilities

• Assist with filing, scanning, data entry, documentation, and presentations.
• Assist with responses to general questions.
• Participate in continuous improvement by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to concerns and research project problems.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
