Embedded QA Engineer (Televisions)

Bedford (5 Days Per Week Onsite)

We're recruiting an Embedded QA Engineer to join a specialist technology team responsible for testing, validating and improving Smart TV and connected entertainment platforms used by millions of consumers.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced QA professional with a background in consumer electronics, Smart TVs, set-top boxes, Embedded systems, or connected devices. You'll play a key role in ensuring products deliver a seamless viewing experience while working closely with manufacturers, software vendors, and platform partners.

The Role

As an Embedded QA Engineer, you'll be responsible for the testing, approval, and ongoing quality assurance of television platforms, applications, and connected devices. You'll investigate complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, improve testing processes, and help shape quality standards across the team.

You'll also work closely with external partners and internal stakeholders to ensure products meet functional, performance, and user experience expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and own QA strategies for consumer-facing TV platforms and applications
• Lead testing, validation, and approval of Smart TVs, set-top boxes, and connected device software
• Test and troubleshoot video streaming and on-demand applications
• Perform detailed fault investigation and root cause analysis on complex technical issues
• Work closely with manufacturers, operating system vendors, and content providers
• Develop and improve test procedures, tools, and quality processes
• Support and mentor junior team members
• Provide technical expertise to stakeholders across the business

Skills & Experience Required

• Proven experience in Embedded QA, Consumer Electronics Testing, or Device Certification
• Strong understanding of Smart TV technologies, connected devices, or video streaming platforms
• Experience with software and hardware testing methodologies
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a structured approach to problem solving
• Experience using specialist testing and debugging tools
• Linux, Unix, or macOS environment experience
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Strong planning, organisation, and attention to detail

Desirable Experience

• Testing web-based applications and services
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, TestRail, or similar test management tools
• Knowledge of IP video streaming technologies
• Experience working with global partners and distributed teams
