Job summary

Smile Digital is seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to cover Bristol, Bath and Swindon and surrounding areas. The role spans residential, commercial and industrial environments, mixing installation work with maintenance and fault finding.

You will work on single-phase and three-phase systems, undertake inspection, testing and certification, and ensure compliance with current regulations and health and safety. A driving licence and DBS check are required.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• Proven experience in electrical installation, maintenance and fault finding.
• Experience working with single-phase and three-phase systems.
• Strong knowledge of current electrical regulations and safe working practices.
• Experience working on commercial sites and dealing directly with customers.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider engineering team.
• Practical, solution‑focused approach.
• Full UK driving licence.
• City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing would be advantageous.
• IPAF would be beneficial. DBS check may be required.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out electrical installations, maintenance and repairs.
• Diagnosing electrical faults and identifying effective solutions.
• Working across single-phase and three-phase systems.
• Undertaking reactive maintenance and planned electrical works.
• Completing inspection, testing and certification of electrical installations.
• Supporting projects across residential, commercial and industrial sites.
• Ensuring all work complies with electrical regulations and health and safety requirements.
• Maintaining accurate documentation and records.
• Working with customers and other engineers on site.
• Identifying potential improvements or upgrades where appropriate.
