Job summary

Cambridge Maintenance Services Limited is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Technician to deliver planned and reactive maintenance across a portfolio of systems. You will ensure safe, efficient operation and deliver an exceptional service to clients.

The role involves 42.5 hours per week on-site with overtime after 47.5 hours, a company vehicle, uniform and tools provided, and opportunities for training and career development.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of M&E building services.
• Relevant Electrical Installation qualification (e.g. City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent).
• Inspection & Testing qualification (e.g. City & Guilds 2391-52).
• Full UK driving licence.
• Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to interpret and analyse electrical systems.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Methodical approach to record keeping and reporting.
• Practical, hands-on attitude with excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Deliver service to clients and complete work to high standards.
• Carry out planned maintenance and respond to reactive breakdowns.
• Diagnose faults and arrange replacements to minimise downtime.
• Complete quality inspections and meet industry standards.
• Maintain records through Elogbooks facilities management system.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules with Lead Engineer and Support Desk Supervisor.
• Participate in out-of-hours call-out rota.
• Undertake hands-on tasks across client sites.
• Ensure compliance with policies, safety legislation and regulations.
• Build professional relationships with clients and colleagues.

Job description

As a key member of our Electrical maintenance team, you'll play a vital role in delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across a range of electrical systems within our client portfolio. You'll be responsible for ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently while providing an exceptional service that consistently exceeds customer expectations.

Everything you need to do the job will be provided, including a company van, mobile phone, tablet and uniform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver exceptional service to our clients, ensuring all work is completed to the highest standards and in line with contractual requirements.
• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and respond promptly to reactive maintenance and equipment breakdowns.
• Diagnose and rectify faults efficiently, arranging equipment replacements where required to minimise downtime.
• Complete quality inspections and ensure all work meets recognised industry standards and best practices.
• Effectively manage and maintain records through our Elogbooks facilities management system.
• Work closely with the Lead Engineer and Support Desk Supervisor to coordinate maintenance schedules, priorities, and reporting requirements.
• Participate in the out-of-hours emergency call-out rota as required.
• Undertake a variety of hands‑on and physically demanding tasks across client sites.
• Ensure full compliance with company policies, health & safety legislation, and relevant industry regulations.
• Take ownership of your professional development by participating in training and maintaining up-to-date technical knowledge and qualifications.
• Build positive working relationships with clients and colleagues, representing the business professionally at all times.
• Support the wider team by undertaking additional duties appropriate to the role when required.

Hours of Work:

42.5 hours per week between Monday - Friday. Overtime starting after 47.5 hours.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

• Good understanding of M&E building services.
• Relevant Electrical Installation qualification (e.g. City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent).
