Overview:
A leading infrastructure contractor is seeking a confident and technically skilled Electrical Engineer to take a key role in delivering high-voltage grid and substation projects across Scotland. Based in Stirling, this position combines hands-on electrical design work with client-facing responsibilities and project leadership - offering an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a pivotal engineering role within a long-term framework.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to the electrical design of high-voltage substations and grid connections (11kV-400kV), including layout development, cable routing, equipment specifications, and earthing design.

  • Act as the main engineering contact for clients, attending regular meetings and managing technical interfaces throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Review and sign off detailed design packages, ensuring technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and alignment with client specifications.

  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, protection & control, and commissioning engineers to ensure integrated project delivery.

  • Support internal design processes using industry-standard tools and methodologies, with responsibility for technical quality and deadlines.

  • Provide input into procurement, equipment selection, and supplier engagement from an engineering perspective.

  • Assist in project planning, resourcing, and cost tracking, including variation management and engineering risk mitigation.

  • Attend site visits as required to support design validation, construction support, and commissioning.

Required Experience:

  • Proven background in electrical engineering within the UK power sector, ideally focused on transmission and distribution infrastructure.

  • Experience producing and reviewing electrical designs in-house, with sound knowledge of substation layouts, HV plant, cabling, and protection interfaces.

  • Comfortable in a client-facing role, with the ability to lead meetings, explain technical concepts, and resolve issues effectively.

  • Prior experience overseeing or coordinating the technical delivery of design packages or multidisciplinary projects.

  • Familiarity with UK and international electrical design standards (e.g. BS, IEC), and knowledge of DNO/TSO specifications.

Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or closely related discipline.

  • Experience with design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Amtech, or similar) beneficial.

  • ECS/CSCS card (or willingness to obtain).

  • Full UK driving licence (required).

What's Offered:
