Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley is seeking an Electrical Engineer to shape electrical functions across project lifecycles from concept to commissioning. You’ll contribute to water treatment, clean water production and infrastructure projects in the UK water market.

You will work with Motor Control Centres, LV distribution, instrumentation, PLCs and SCADA, ensuring designs meet standards and client briefs while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • Currently pursuing IEng/CEng towards registration.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Preparing electrical engineering designs for water treatment equipment on client sites, including Motor Control Centres, LV distribution, cabling, instrumentation, and PLC/SCADA networks.
  • Applying design standards including Client and WIMES standards and legislation.
  • Coordinating with the multidisciplinary design team to meet the brief, programme and budget.
  • Producing technical specifications and procurement schedules; reviewing supplier bids and submissions.
  • Producing URS for control systems, reviewing FDS from suppliers and attending FATs.
  • Reviewing existing installed systems and integrating interfaces from site visits, drawings and reports.
  • Engaging with clients to manage relationships and support their aims.

MMB has extended its contract with Thames Water for an additional five years. As the largest water and wastewater provider in the UK, Thames Water serves 15 million customers throughout London and the Thames Valley. This extension will carry the current workload beyond the end of AMP8 in March 2030. We are delivering work in the Thames Valley region (extending from Cirencester in the west to the M25 and from Basingstoke in the South to Banbury in the North). This sees us undertake a varied programme of sizable projects in wastewater treatment, clean water production and Infrastructure (Water and Wastewater networks).

As an Electrical Engineer you will contribute to projects that significantly impact our environment and communities. Working primarily in the UK water market, MMB provides the feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services needed to keep water flowing and wastewater treated. You’ll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities by enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of water and wastewater treatment systems.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the electrical functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all electrical aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.

The role of an Electrical Engineer includes
  • Preparing electrical engineering designs for water treatment equipment on our client's site. You will be working with Motor Control Centres, LV distribution systems, Cabling, Instrumentation, Industrial Networks, PLCs and SCADA. Systems will be both new latest technology and existing legacy installations.
  • Applying all relevant design standards including Client and WIMES standards and legislation.
  • Coordinating with the multidisciplinary design team to ensure designs are completed to the brief on programme and within budget.
  • Producing technical specification and schedules for procurement activities, reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
  • Producing the URS for control systems, reviewing supplier FDS and attending factory acceptance tests.
  • Reviewing and understanding existing installed systems that are to be interfaced to from site visits, drawings and reports.
  • Positively engaging with the client, managing relationships and supporting them to achieve their aims.
What you’ll need
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Working towards IEng / CEng with a relevant Engineering Institution
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
  • Methodical approach to problem solving
  • A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region
