Job summary

Mott MacDonald Bentley seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to shape electrical functions from concept to commissioning on water treatment projects in the UK. You will ensure designs integrate with motor control centres, LV systems, instrumentation, PLCs and SCADA, while guiding junior staff and coordinating with clients.

You will contribute to standards compliance and delivery success, have a proactive approach to safety, and travel to sites across the operational region as required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering and chartered or Incorporated member of a professional institution (ICE/IMechE) or equivalent experience.
• Experience delivering high-quality outputs in line with design, quality and safety standards.
• Strong communication with team members and stakeholders.
• Methodical problem-solving approach.
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across the region.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review electrical engineering designs for water treatment equipment on client sites.
• Work with motor control centres, LV distribution, cabling, instrumentation, industrial networks, PLCs and SCADA; including legacy installations.
• Produce and review technical specs and procurement schedules; review tender bids and submissions.
• Supervise and mentor Graduates and Engineers to develop knowledge and skills.
• Engage with clients, build relationships and support project aims.

In this time, the companies have delivered hundreds of engineering and construction projects together. This new contract will extend the relationship to at least 2030 and see MMB – which harnesses the contracting strength of JN Bentley and the design specialisms of Mott MacDonald - undertake treatment projects across the North East.

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will contribute to projects that significantly impact our environment and communities. Working primarily in the UK water market, MMB provides the feasibility, design, construction, and commissioning services needed to keep water flowing and wastewater treated. You'll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities by enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of water and wastewater treatment systems.

You will play a pivotal role in shaping the electrical functions throughout the lifecycle of various projects. From concept design to commissioning, you will ensure that all electrical aspects are meticulously considered and integrated.

The role of a Senior Electrical Engineer includes:

• Preparing and reviewing electrical engineering designs for water treatment equipment on our client's site. You will be working with Motor Control Centres, LV distribution systems, Cabling, Instrumentation, Industrial Networks, PLCs and SCADA. Systems will be both new latest technology and existing legacy installations.
• Producing and reviewing technical specifications and schedules for procurement activities, reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
• Supervising and mentoring our Graduates and Engineers assisting them to develop their knowledge and skills.
• Understanding, applying and contributing to design standards with a good knowledge of Client and WIMES standards.
• Positively engaging with the client, building relationships and supporting them to achieve their aims.

What you’ll need:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Chartered or incorporated member of professional institution e.g ICE, IMechE, etc, or equivalent experience
• Experience of successfully delivering high quality outputs in accordance with design, quality and safety standards
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders
• Methodical approach to problem solving
• A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region
