Job summary

Hitachi Rail UK Limited is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Newton Aycliffe team. The role focuses on designing, developing, and integrating electrical systems across diverse applications, requiring strong electrical fundamentals and some mechanical interface awareness.

You will create electrical schemes, wiring diagrams and documentation, specify components, and support testing and integration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
  • Experience producing schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Familiarity with mechanical interfaces

Responsibilities

  • Develop functional electrical schemes for systems and subassemblies
  • Produce detailed wiring diagrams, harness layouts and electrical documentation for production
  • Design electrical subassemblies, including cubicles, enclosures and external equipment
  • Define and specify electrical and electro-mechanical components
  • Prepare system and component technical specifications
  • Support integration and testing of electrical systems, including on-system validation
  • Conduct design reviews with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines, particularly where electrical and mechanical interfaces intersect
