Arup's Building Engineering team in Leeds seeks an Electrical Engineer to work on multidisciplinary projects, guiding the output of graduate Electrical Services engineers and technicians, and helping shape high-performance, sustainable building services across sectors.

You will join a team of over 25 engineers in the Leeds office and 200+ engineers in the North region, contributing to commercial, residential, education, healthcare and energy schemes.

Qualifications

• Masters degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered status with CIBSE/IET or similar is desirable.
• Experience in Electrical Services Engineering design across various project types.

Responsibilities

• Apply engineering expertise across feasibility to completion on multidisciplinary projects.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to maximise client value while minimising environmental impact.
• Support digital transformation and automation within the design process.

Arup’s Building Engineering Services team are currently working on a wide range of projects, The Leeds Building Engineering Services team work on a wide range of projects, including:

• Commercial - Wellington Place (new build offices).
• Office fit-out designs for several high profile organisations Higher Education.
• Leeds University Sir William Bragg building.
• Creative Arts Building and University of Bradford.
• Learning & Teaching centre.
• Healthcare Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
• Residential – Mustard Wharf, Modular Homes.

The opportunity

As an Electrical Services Engineer you will be a key part of the Building Services Engineering Team, working on multidisciplinary projects while being responsible for the output of graduate Electrical Services engineers and technicians. You will be part of a collaborative team of over 25 engineers and technicians in the Leeds office and a wider 200+ engineers and technicians within the North region.

Key responsibilities:

Apply your engineering expertise to shape our projects. Work in an interdisciplinary environment and aim to design buildings that maximise value for our clients whilst minimising their environmental impact. Play an active role in all stages of our projects from feasibility through to completion across a number of sectors, including commercial, residential, education, energy, sport, health and mixed-use developments. Play a part in the ever-increasing digital transformation of our business, seeking new ways to increase our efficiency through automation and to offer new services to our clients through our integrated digital approach to design.

We are looking to speak to people who:

• Working towards Chartered status through CIBSE, IET or other relevant body and degree qualified with a Masters Engineering Degree or equivalent
• Experience in the Electrical Services Engineering design on a range of project types
• Strong design and technical skills
• Enjoys working collaboratively in multi-disciplinary design teams, contributing to projects from inception to completion.
• Good planning and organisation skills
• Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
• Able to demonstrate commercial awareness and starting to develop working relationships with external team members
• Committed to their own professional development and looking for challenging work to develop their engineering skill.
• A passion for design and an enthusiasm for architecture and sustainable building design.
• Ability to demonstrate technical aptitude and experience in design analysis software.
• Experience of working within a BIM environment using Revit beneficial.
• Assists in training and developing younger engineers and technicians
