Position Overview
The role of the Electrical Engineer is to serve new product development (NPD), drive continuous improvement, and support the Terex mobile screening team. The engineer will be responsible for designing control systems, supporting project timelines, and ensuring targets are met. This role also involves providing technical expertise, interfacing with various functions, and facilitating inter-department communication.
Responsibilities
Program Management
- Support NPD projects for Terex mobile screening plants, ensuring project needs are accurately interpreted.
- Assist in developing concepts and proposals; ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet all key objectives.
- Provide technical support for both existing products and new product development.
- Manage the introduction of new technology to ensure robust, repeatable, and stable testing periods.
Standards, Health & Safety
- Design products compliant with company and industry standards and legislation regarding machine safety.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to meet Terex's goal of ZERO harm.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety procedures, including project risk analysis.
- Create and test PLC and HMI software, primarily using CoDeSys 3.5.
- Write functional specifications for software development.
- Compile and store all project documentation and technical files correctly.
- Support operations teams on improvement projects and targeted product enhancements.
- Contribute to product cost reduction and reliability improvement initiatives.
- Support continuous improvement aligned with business needs.
- Occasionally perform equipment commissioning, installation, and testing both in the company and on-site.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Science, or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience in PLC programming.
- Familiarity with electrical automation of hydraulic systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- At least 2 years of experience in the heavy equipment industry.
- Strong knowledge of DC electrical system design; experience with three-phase electrical design is a plus.
- Ability to troubleshoot machine malfunctions.
- Experience designing 24V DC control systems, including CAN bus and Modbus networks.
- Proficiency in PLC software development, ideally in CoDeSys.
- Understanding of hydraulic systems.
- Self-motivated and independent individual.
- Strong project management and analytical skills.
- Effective presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to travel.
