Job summary

7 Steel UK is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for our Rod and Bar Mill team in the United Kingdom. You will plan, prioritise and manage electrical activities, lead projects and supervise Electrical Technicians to keep the plant running safely and efficiently.

You will have a BSc in Electrical Engineering, hands-on experience with SCADA/HMI and PLC systems, and proven ability to lead teams in a heavy-industry setting.

Qualifications

  • BSc degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience with SCADA/HMI and PLC systems.
  • Experience with large AC/DC motor controls, inverters and converters.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, prioritise, schedule, and manage electrical activities such as maintenance and repairs.
  • Undertake development performance reviews for electrical craftspeople.
  • Ensure risk assessments, method statements and permits are created and followed.
  • Estimate cost, time and resources for repair and improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers and shift managers to keep the plant running.

Up to £52,000 plus £2,550 callout & 10% bonus

Joining our Rod and Bar Mill team as an Electrical Engineer, you’ll be working on some of the largest pieces of kit and machinery you’ll find in the industry. Some of your responsibilities will include…

  • Plan, prioritise, schedule, and manage electrical activities, for example planned maintenance programmes, shut-downs, or emergency repairs.
  • Undertake development performance reviews for electrical craftspeople.
  • Ensure that risk assessments, method statements and permits are created, implemented and followed.
  • Estimate the cost, time, and resources required for repair and improvement projects.
  • Work directly with engineers in other disciplines and shift managers to ensure effective running of the process.

Working within the wider Engineering Management Team, you’ll be leading and managing projects as well as a team of Electrical Technicians. Analysis, design and planning are important responsibilities, as well as being down on the plant and getting stuck in.

You will be an experienced Electrical Engineer, who is passionate about continuous learning and is always looking to widen their skill set. You will have experience in a heavy industry environment, and enjoy hands on, practical engineering.

You will need…

  • BSc Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience of SCADA/HMI and PLC systems
  • Strong knowledge and experience of large AC/DC motor controls, invertors and converters
  • Hands on engineer who will do what it takes to keep the plant running
  • Experience of leading and developing successful teams
