Job summary

Electrical Designer role based in Stockport with hybrid working arrangements. You will take technical ownership on infrastructure projects across oil and gas, nuclear, water, and power sectors within a leading engineering consultancy.

The ideal candidate will produce SLDs, schematics, cable schedules, and equipment layouts; develop BOMs and design packs; mentor junior designers; review designs for quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Electrical Designer on infrastructure/industrial projects.
• Proficiency in CAD and 3D modelling tools.
• Knowledge of UK electrical standards and legislation.
• Experience across multiple stages of project lifecycles.
• Excellent communication and ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• HNC/HND, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification.
• Professional accreditation or working towards it is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Produce electrical design deliverables (single line diagrams, schematics, cable schedules, equipment layouts).
• Develop supporting documentation, including bills of materials and design packs.
• Lead designer responsibilities across projects and proposals.
• Mentor and support junior and mid-level designers.
• Review and check designs to ensure quality and compliance.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver coordinated design solutions.
• Ensure all designs are safe, practical, and fit for purpose.
