Job summary

A leading company is seeking a part-time Electrical Designer to develop efficient electrical infrastructure for commercial and industrial clients. The role involves designing LV/HV electrical networks, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and requires proficiency in AutoCAD and related software. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems and experience in ICP environments. Remote working is acceptable, although preference is given to Scotland-based applicants.

About the Role

Venn Group are seeking a flexibleElectrical Designerto work on a part time / temporary basis with expertise in Private Low Voltage (LV) and Independent Connection Provider (ICP) LV/HV systems. You will be responsible for designing electrical infrastructure, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and delivering efficient solutions for commercial and industrial clients. We are open to remote working, but would prefer Scotland based applicants.

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical networks from LV up to HV (33kV, 11kV, etc.), ensuring safety, reliability, and compliance.
• Create technical drawings, schematics, and layouts using software such as AutoCAD, WinDebut, VisNet Design.
• Produce design specifications and documentation for ICP projects.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to develop tailored solutions.
• Ensure designs comply with BS 7671, G81, DNO requirements, and CDM regulations.
• Conduct load calculations, fault analysis, and protection system designs.

Qualifications & Skills

• Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems.
• Experience in LV/HV electrical design within ICP or DNO environments.
• Knowledge of cable sizing, earthing, protection schemes, and electrical network modeling.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, WinDebut, or similar design software.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and electrical regulations.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
