Job Description:

Role Overview:

We’re looking for a Mechanical or Electrical Design Engineer with experience in renewable energy to support the design of systems such as solar PV, wind, or battery storage. This is a fully remote, contract role suitable for an independent, technically capable engineer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce and review detailed system designs, schematics, and layouts.
  • Support feasibility studies, calculations, and system optimization.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., IEC, BS, NEC).
  • Collaborate remotely with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, specifications, and installation planning.
  • Use relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, ETAP).

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Proven design experience in the renewables sector.
  • Proficient in design tools and engineering software.
  • Strong understanding of solar, wind, battery, or power distribution systems.
  • Effective communicator, self-motivated, and able to work independently.

Desirable: Chartered status, grid integration knowledge, or BIM experience.
