Job summary

Costain Group plc is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to be embedded in the Anglian Water SPA delivery team. The role focuses on producing electrical outline and detailed designs across a 320km interconnector pipeline programme, with responsibilities spanning from concept through to handover.

The position is fixed-term to April 2027, with a preference for attendance at the Peterborough office 1–2 days per week, and 2–3 days per month for certain candidates.

Qualifications

• Experience in outline and detailed design for water industry applications.
• Experience in Design and Build projects.
• Experience in witness testing.
• Experience in instrumentation, control systems and automation in process environments.
• Familiar with BS7671 latest edition.

Responsibilities

• Produce single line diagrams, DNO supply applications, MCC specifications, and control system docs.
• Contribute to process control, Intelligent P&IDs, 3D models, HAZOP and LOPA studies.
• Lead design progression with suppliers and review their designs.
• Develop commercial estimates, targets and forecasts for design work.
• Coordinate construction drawings in CAD, BIM, and GIS; enable digital delivery.
• Provide technical input to client meetings and interfaces with Utilities/Environmental teams.
• Support cross-disciplinary teams to gain efficiencies.
