Job summary

RGB Recruitment Ltd is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer or Senior Electrical Design Engineer for a permanent, full-time role in Birmingham. The position offers hybrid working within an employee-owned building services consultancy.

You will deliver electrical building services designs across a varied portfolio, manage project delivery, and liaise with clients, contractors and other design disciplines. Chartered status or progression is preferred; study assistance and progression pathways are

Qualifications

• HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Around 3-5 years' experience in Electrical Building Services Design; more for Senior level.
• Chartered status or working towards professional registration.
• Membership of a relevant professional body, such as CIBSE or IET.
• Knowledge of sustainable design principles.

Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical building services designs from concept through to post-completion.
• Produce electrical drawings, technical reports and specifications.

Electrical Design Engineer / Senior Electrical Design Engineer

The Company

An established and growing employee-owned building services consultancy based in Birmingham is looking to appoint an Electrical Design Engineer or Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join its expanding team.

The consultancy provides mechanical, electrical, environmental, energy and sustainability design services across a varied portfolio of developments. The Role

The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary building services team, taking responsibility for the delivery of electrical building services designs across projects from initial concept through to post-completion.

Working across a varied portfolio of developments, you will be involved in producing technical designs, managing project delivery and liaising with clients, contractors, suppliers and other design disciplines.

The level of responsibility will reflect your experience, with the opportunity to take ownership of projects independently, contribute to technical delivery and support colleagues across the wider team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver electrical building services designs from concept through to post-completion.
• Produce electrical drawings, technical reports and specifications.
• Undertake electrical calculations using recognised industry software.
• Manage project delivery, workloads and general design coordination.
• Liaise directly with clients, contractors, suppliers and external design teams.
• Monitor contractors and provide technical advice throughout project delivery.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant British Standards, Codes of Practice and industry regulations.
• Promote sustainable design principles and energy-efficient engineering solutions.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues where appropriate.

Requirements

• HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a relevant discipline.
• Around 3-5 years' experience in Electrical Building Services Design, with more extensive experience considered for the Senior level.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services engineering.
• Experience using recognised electrical design and calculation software.
• Ability to manage projects independently from concept through to post-completion.
• Good understanding of relevant British Standards and industry regulations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage workloads and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Membership of a relevant professional body, such as CIBSE or IET.
• Chartered status or working towards professional registration.
• Knowledge of sustainable design principles.
