Job summary

Severn Trent is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer or Senior Design Engineer to join our Plug and Play team and shape the future of water and wastewater infrastructure in the UK. You’ll develop innovative electrical systems from concept to detailed design and work with multidisciplinary teams across projects to deliver modular, safe, and future-ready solutions.

We value character and collaboration as highly as technical ability, with travel across UK sites on an ad-hoc basis.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; 5+ years in electrical design.
• Familiarity with CAD and digital electrical design tools.
• Understanding of H&S and risk management in engineering design.

Responsibilities

• Drive electrical design process: specifications, optioneering, detailed design.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate requirements into robust solutions.
• Support early-stage commissioning planning and ensure regulatory/operational standards.
• Continuously improve standard designs based on feedback, risk assessments, performance data.
• Ensure seamless integration between product design, framework suppliers and site teams.

We’re looking for an Electrical Design Engineer or a Senior Design Engineer to join our Plug and Play team and help shape the future of water and wastewater infrastructure.

LET’S CUT STRAIGHT TO IT

As an Electrical Engineer within the Plug and Play team, you’ll develop innovative electrical systems and solutions from concept through to detailed design. You’ll work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to create standardised, modular systems that are safe, efficient, and future-ready.

• Driving the electrical design process, including specifications, optioneering, and detailed design.
• Collaborating with stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into robust solutions.
• Supporting early‑stage commissioning planning and ensuring designs meet regulatory and operational standards.
• Continuously improving standard designs based on feedback, risk assessments, and performance data.
• Ensuring seamless integration between product design, framework suppliers and site implementation teams.

• Understanding of H&S, and risk management in engineering design.
• An innovative and collaborative mindset with the ability to influence stakeholders to drive practical, effective solutions.
• Flexibility to travel between sites throughout the UK on an Ad-hoc basis as projects demand.
