Job summary

Hoot Recruit is recruiting an Electrical Design Engineer to join an established contractor’s in-house design team in Irlam, Greater Manchester. You will produce LV power, lighting and related designs for CAT A/B fits, refurbishments and new installations.

You’ll use AutoCAD, Amtech, Relux or DIALux to deliver compliant layouts and drawings, ensuring BS 7671 and UK Building Regulations compliance, while collaborating with estimators, project managers and site teams across the North West.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in electrical design for commercial projects.
• Knowledge of BS 7671 wiring regulations and UK Building Regulations.
• Experience producing electrical drawings, calculations, layouts and technical documentation.
• Experience with AutoCAD and Amtech.
• Experience with Relux or DIALux lighting design.
• An understanding of CAT A and CAT B fit-outs, refurbishments and new installations.

Responsibilities

• Design LV power distribution, small power and lighting schemes.
• Produce electrical layouts, schematics and drawings using AutoCAD.
• Carry out electrical network calculations and cable sizing using Amtech.
• Develop lighting designs using Relux or DIALux.
• Design electrical systems for CAT A/B fit-outs and refurbishments.
• Include fire alarm and access control systems where relevant.
• Coordinate with project managers, estimators and site teams throughout the project.
• Conduct site surveys to support installation planning.
• Provide practical design information for on-site execution.
• Support development of the in-house design function.
