Job summary

Hoot Recruit in Irlam, Greater Manchester is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join a busy in-house design team. You will produce detailed electrical designs, layouts and calculations for commercial and retail projects, from initial planning through to installation, working with estimators, project managers, and site teams.

The role requires hands-on CAD experience (AutoCAD, Amtech) and knowledge of BS 7671.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in electrical design within commercial projects.
• Ability to design LV power distribution, lighting and safety systems.
• Experience with AutoCAD and electrical design software.
• Familiarity with BS 7671 and UK Building Regulations.
• Experience producing drawings and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design LV power distribution, small power, lighting and safety systems.
• Produce layouts, schematics and drawings in AutoCAD.
• Carry out network calculations and cable sizing using Amtech.
• Develop internal/external lighting designs using Relux or DIALux.
• Design electrical systems for CAT A/B fit-outs and refurbishments.
• Collaborate with project teams across lifecycle.
• Conduct site surveys with project management.
• Provide practical design information for on-site installations.
