Futures in Sheffield is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join an automation-focused engineering business. This role suits graduates or early-career engineers aiming to build a long-term career in industrial automation, control systems, and project delivery under experienced mentors.

You will design electrical and electronic control systems, produce schematics using CAD, support PLC/HMI programming, and help create BOMs and technical docs while developing practical skills.

Qualifications

• Electrical or Electronic Engineering degree or equivalent (BEng/HND/HNC).
• Experience or exposure to PLCs and control systems.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD or similar.
• Previous experience in Electrical Design Engineer or automation-related role.
• Willingness to learn and develop within electrical/automation engineering.
• UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical and electronic control systems for automated machinery.
• Produce electrical schematics and system drawings using CAD software.
• Support PLC, HMI and automation programming activities.
• Create BOMs and supporting technical documentation.
• Work on assigned projects with guidance from a senior engineer or mentor.
• Assist with technical queries and problem-solving within the engineering team.
• Investigate and evaluate new automation technologies.
