Job summary

Reed Specialist Recruitment is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer / Controls Engineer to join an established engineering business delivering bespoke automation and robotic solutions. You will design control panels, create detailed schematics in EPLAN, and contribute to BOMs and component selection across automotive, medical, plastics and packaging sectors.

Qualifications

• Electrical design background focused on control systems.
• Strong experience using EPLAN.
• Experience producing electrical schematics, circuit diagrams and panel designs.
• Experience designing electrical control systems in industrial/automation environments.
• Knowledge of electrical components, safety systems and standards.
• Experience creating bills of materials and selecting components.
• Ability to fault-find electrical and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed electrical schematics and circuit diagrams using EPLAN.
• Design control panels and electrical control systems.
• Create bills of materials and select appropriate electrical components.
• Design electrical and safety systems in line with standards.
• Support build and wiring of control panels and equipment.
• Work with electrical technicians during build and testing.
• Fault-find and troubleshoot electrical and safety systems.
• Support installation and commissioning when required.
• Make modifications and improvements to existing electrical systems.
• Collaborate with mechanical, electrical and controls engineers on projects.
• Support customers remotely and on-site when required.
