Job summary

TechMet Ltd. in the United Kingdom is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join a high-tech manufacturing environment, developing electrical systems for medical devices and FMCG equipment, with projects often exceeding £1m.

You will work with software and design engineers on cradle-to-grave projects, using AutoCAD, PLCs, and rigorous design documentation, and you will drive innovation, commissioning, and on-site installation while ensuring regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• A relevant engineering degree or HND in electrical/electronic engineering.
• Strong knowledge of PLCs and electrical design principles.
• Experience with high-tech manufacturing environments is preferred.

You will be part of a combined and integrated team working alongside expert Software and Design Engineers, involved in a rich and challenging variety of projects using state of the art, newly developed technology. You will develop & design electrical solutions for specialist equipment for the medical devices/FMCG industry, many of the bespoke automation projects in excess of £1m.

Key duties will include:

• Electrical design and provision of technical guidance
• Service support, Commissioning, On-site Installation and Customer Acceptance
• Research and development of new electrical systems and projects
• Create design documentation
• Liaise with other departments/sub-contractors to co-ordinate on projects

You will need:

• An HND/Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with at least 3+ years' experience of working in a high tech manufacturing environment
• Good experience of electrical design, commissioning and support - preferably in a machine building environment
• Good PLC knowledge
• AutoCAD experience
• Knowledge and understanding of electrical control systems legislation

This role will suit an Engineer who can naturally take responsibility during a "cradle to grave" project and be truly capable of affecting and driving projects.
