Job summary

MEPJOBS UK is recruiting on behalf of a leading Building Services Consultancy for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team, delivering electrical building services across healthcare, education, commercial and mixed-use developments.

You will lead projects from feasibility through to construction, mentor junior engineers and ensure compliance with Building Regulations and British Standards while coordinating with mechanical, structural and architectural

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Significant experience in Building Services Consultancy with electrical designs.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems in commercial buildings.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design from feasibility to construction and completion.
• Produce/review electrical designs including distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, alarms, security and renewable technologies.
• Prepare calculations, specs, reports and drawings per standards.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural and architectural teams.
• Attend meetings and manage client relationships.
• Ensure quality, programme and budget adherence.
• Mentor junior engineers and review work.
• Ensure compliance with Building Regulations and standards.
• Undertake site visits and surveys.
• Contribute to engineering standards and sustainable design.

Role Purpose

We're recruiting on behalf of a leading Building Services Consultancy for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team. With a strong pipeline of projects across the Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Residential and Mixed-Use sectors, this is an excellent opportunity to work on diverse, high-profile developments while progressing your career.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design of building services projects from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design, construction and project completion.
• Produce and review electrical designs including power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, security systems, small power, standby power and renewable technologies.
• Prepare design calculations, specifications, technical reports and drawings in line with industry standards and client requirements.
• Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, structural and architectural disciplines to ensure fully integrated solutions.
• Attend client, design team and project meetings, providing technical expertise and building strong professional relationships.
• Manage project deliverables to ensure quality, programme and budget objectives are achieved.
• Mentor and support junior engineers, graduates and technicians, providing technical guidance and reviewing design work.
• Ensure designs comply with current legislation, British Standards, Building Regulations and industry best practice.
• Undertake site visits, surveys and inspections as required throughout project delivery.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, innovation and sustainable design practices across the business.

Requirements

• Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Significant experience within a Building Services Consultancy, delivering electrical building services designs.
• Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems within commercial buildings and the wider built environment.
• Experience delivering projects across one or more of the following sectors: Healthcare, Education, Commercial, Residential or Mixed-Use developments.
• Proficient in industry software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech/Trimble ProDesign, Dialux/Relux and Microsoft Office.
• Excellent understanding of current Building Regulations, British Standards and relevant industry guidance.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build lasting client relationships.
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deliver work to programme and budget.

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards chartership through CIBSE or IET.
• Experience using BIM processes and Revit MEP.
• Knowledge of low-carbon technologies, energy-efficient building design and sustainable engineering solutions.
• Previous experience mentoring junior engineers and leading project teams.
