Job summary

Automation Experts in Oxfordshire is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to design electrical systems for bespoke industrial automation and machine vision equipment. You will produce schematics and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical and specify components for automation machinery.

You will work with mechanical and applications engineers, visit client sites across the UK, and contribute to projects from concept to manufacture.

Qualifications

• Experience designing electrical systems for industrial machinery.
• Strong AutoCAD Electrical experience.
• Experience producing electrical schematics, panel layouts and manufacturing documentation.
• Knowledge of industrial electrical components, machine safety and control panel design.
• Understanding of industrial networks (Profinet, Profibus, EtherNet/IP, TCP/IP, IO-Link).
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a logical and methodical approach.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems and panel layouts for bespoke industrial automation and machine vision equipment.
• Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and terminal plans using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Specify electrical, control and safety components for automation machinery.
• Prepare technical documentation including electrical drawings, process flow diagrams and control system architecture.
• Work closely with Mechanical Design and Applications Engineers to deliver projects on time and to specification.
• Coordinate with suppliers and support component selection throughout project delivery.
• Support electrical panel build, machine wiring and electrical testing during manufacture.
• Support ongoing improvements and modifications to existing automation systems.
