Job summary

Scott Bader is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to advance electrical and instrumentation installations at our UK site. You will support PLCs, SCADA and control systems while ensuring safety, compliance and reliability across our manufacturing processes.

Join our EC&I team to deliver projects, maintain systems and improve site performance, with a focus on teamwork and continuous development. This role is based at our Wollaston HQ in the UK.

Qualifications

  • HNC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (Level 4) or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience in process manufacturing or industrial plant environments.
  • Solid knowledge of electrical and instrumentation design, including hazardous area installations.
  • Experience with PLCs, SCADA/HMI and electrical control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across multiple teams.
  • Support EC&I team during summer shutdown with back-office technical tasks and possible project work.

  • Manage and deliver small capital projects from design through to commissioning.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on plant electrical and control system issues.
  • Maintain and develop site control systems, PLCs, SCADA and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety, engineering standards and relevant legislation.

Job description

As our new Electrical Design Engineer, you'll provide technical expertise in the design, maintenance and improvement of electrical and instrumentation systems across our manufacturing site. You'll play a key role in ensuring plant reliability, safety and compliance while supporting the delivery of engineering projects and site improvements.

Working as part of our EC&I team, you'll collaborate closely with technicians, engineers, production teams and external contractors to design and implement new installations, support existing control systems and deliver capital projects. This is an opportunity to apply your specialist engineering knowledge in a complex process manufacturing environment while helping to maintain safe, efficient and reliable operations.

Some of your key responsibilities:
  • Design electrical and instrumentation installations, including hazardous area (ATEX) applications.
  • Manage and deliver small capital projects from design through to commissioning.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on plant electrical and control system issues.
  • Maintain and develop site control systems, PLCs, SCADA and associated documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety, engineering standards and relevant legislation.
What we're looking for:
  • HNC in Electrical or Electronic Engineering (or equivalent Level 4 qualification).
  • Experience working within a process manufacturing or industrial plant environment.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and instrumentation design, including hazardous area installations.
  • Experience with PLCs, SCADA/HMI systems and electrical control systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams.
  • Support the EC&I team during the 2 week summer shutdown (normally July/August), primarily back office technical support but may include project work depending on business needs
