Job summary

Tarmac is recruiting an Electrical Craftsperson for our Dunbar Cement Plant, near Edinburgh. You will work a 4 on/4 off shift pattern at a major industrial site, prioritising safety and carrying out fault finding and repairs across PLC/DCS systems and motors.

Qualifications

• Electrical craftsperson role requiring strong safety awareness and ability to fault-find across power, control and process systems.
• Experience with instrumentation, PLCs and SCADA systems is beneficial.
• Ability to work within a heavy industrial environment and compliance with health and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Prioritising safety at all times and following health, safety and environmental standards.
• Responding to electrical breakdowns and carrying out fault finding, diagnostics and repairs.
• Applying knowledge to equipment including instrumentation, PLCs, DCS/SCADA, LV & HV motors, switchgear and control panels.
• Carrying out systematic electrical fault finding across power, control and process systems.
• Performing planned preventative maintenance and routine inspections during shifts.
• Assisting operations teams in identifying and resolving plant reliability and process issues.
• Supporting shutdown activities and major maintenance works across the site.
• Working across a large industrial site including outdoor plant areas and dusty environments.

Main Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the role include:

• Prioritising safety at all times, demonstrating a strong understanding of health, safety and environmental standards, electrical isolations, permit systems and safe working practices within a heavy industrial environment.
• Responding to electrical breakdowns and carrying out fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on plant equipment in a safe and timely manner.
• Applying existing knowledge or quickly developing expertise in a wide range of equipment, including instrumentation, PLCs, DCS/SCADA systems, LV & HV motors, switchgear, motor control centres, control gear, AC & DC systems, variable speed drives, industrial communications systems and specialised control panels.
• Carrying out systematic electrical fault finding across power, control and process systems within a live production environment.
• Performing planned preventative maintenance and routine inspections during shift periods.
• Assisting operations teams in identifying and resolving plant reliability and process issues.
• Supporting shutdown activities and major maintenance works across the site.
• Working across a large industrial site including outdoor plant areas, substations, elevated structures and dusty process environments.
