Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited in Dunbar Cement Plant is seeking a Head of Electrical to lead the multi-functional maintenance team. You will champion engineering improvements and deliver high-impact electrical projects across the site.

You will manage budgets, CAPEX, statutory inspections and develop the skills of your electrical team to ensure safe, reliable plant performance.

Qualifications

• Senior management experience in heavy industry.
• In-depth knowledge of high voltage infrastructure and UK electricity at work.
• NEBOSH or IOSH preferable; CompEx qualification advantageous.

• Deliver improvement projects and formulate financial plans for the plant.
• Develop capex CIA’s and proposal budgets while managing monthly budgets.

The site is easily accessible from Edinburgh, Berwick upon Tweed, North Berwick, Bonnyrigg, Haddington and surrounding areas.

Main Responsibilities

As the successfulHead of Electrical you will report to the Assistant Engineering Manager and will be part of our multi-functional maintenance team, playing an integral part in the management maintenance team at DunbarCement Plant.On a day to day basis, duties and responsibilities of theHead of Electrical will include (not exhaustive):Acting as a champion for engineering improvements and promoting best practise for the plantDelivering improvements projects to plant; formulating financial plans and executing workApplying preventative and predictive maintenance practices and contributing to plant improvementsHighlighting long term plant risks to senior management, assisting with repair plansEnsuring sustainable performance aligned to plant objectives, values and behavioursPreparing and managing obsolescence and replacement plansMonitoring execution of electrical tasks through spot checks, following up with feedbackIdentifying skills gaps within the electrical team, building plans for development including 1-2-1’s and PDP’s, supporting longer term retention and succession planningDeveloping capex CIA’s and proposal budgets for plant improvements, whilst managing monthly budgets and overspendEnsuring Electrical Statutory inspections are carried out in line with legislation, and follow on work created from these inspections has been completedConducting weekly safety briefings, whilst actively participating in near hit reporting & safety online actions

The Ideal Candidate

The idealHead of Electricalwill be able to demonstrate senior management engineering experience gained within heavy industry. They will also possess an in-depth knowledge of high voltage infrastructure,hydraulics, pneumatics, motor circuits,electricity and electronics including UK legislation knowledge regarding electricity at work.Specific Requirements;18thEditionExperience of Atex and DSEAR experience and/or hold a CompEx qualificationDegree or equivalentMust understand engineering and business principlesNEBOSH or IOSH preferableFinancial management and budget controlManagement/supervisory experience of an electrical team
