Job location: Chesterfield

Our client, an engineering company, is seeking an Electrical Controls System Engineer / Software Engineer Controls System for a 6-month contract position (outside IR35) in Chesterfield, UK.

Role

As a Controls System Engineer, you will be responsible for site installation, site retesting, site surveys, full integrated system testing, CFAT, SAT, and installation. You should have experience in system specification, design, development, and testing, along with hands-on experience with Siemens S7 PLCs and WinCC SCADA systems.

Main Responsibilities

Delivering modules within projects, including PLC, SCADA, Testing, Networking, Documentation, and Hardware design, ensuring projects meet technical and quality standards, identifying project opportunities and variations, and adhering to company quality procedures.

Experience & Qualifications

• Strong understanding of control panels, electrical installation, and instrumentation solutions.
• A degree or HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, or a relevant discipline, or status as an Incorporated Engineer or working towards professional registration.

Desirable Experience

• Developing project modules including PLC code, SCADA scripts, Mimics, and communication drivers.
• Creating O&M documentation, FDS, DDS, test specifications, and design testing methodologies.
• Developing site work documentation such as risk assessments, method statements, and site test documentation; managing observations, variations, reworks, and system packing/shipping.

Important:

The successful candidate will be required to obtain SC clearance before starting the contract.
