Job summary

Laboris Solutions is recruiting an Electrical & Controls Engineer for a South Oxfordshire-based role with about 70% site work and ~30% international travel to support commissioning and field activities.

You will own electrical and controls work across customer and in-house projects, from bespoke design to factory acceptance testing and on-site commissioning, ensuring high-quality documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or higher not required; HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or related field is essential.
• At least 5+ years in electrical equipment design and supply.
• Strong knowledge of low voltage electrical and control systems.
• Experience setting up Variable Frequency Inverter Drives (VFDs).
• Excellent written and verbal communication with good problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design bespoke electrical and control systems to industry standards.
• Run Factory Acceptance Tests in-house and at customer sites and write test reports.
• Supervise electrical engineers on-site (foreign travel required) and support commissioning of LV control systems.
• Produce clear, professional site reports.

The role

You’ll take ownership of electrical and controls work across customer and in-house projects — from bespoke design through to factory acceptance testing and on-site commissioning. Based at their South Oxfordshire site works around 70% of the time, with roughly 30% international travel to support commissioning and site activities.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing bespoke electrical and control systems to industry standards
• Running Factory Acceptance Tests in-house and at customer sites, and writing up test reports
• Supervising electrical engineers on-site (foreign travel required) and supporting commissioning of low voltage control systems
• Producing clear, professional site reports

What you’ll bring

• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
• 5+ years’ experience in electrical equipment design/supply
• Strong knowledge of low voltage electrical and control systems
• Experience setting up Variable Frequency Inverter Drives (VFDs)
• Excellent written/verbal communication and strong problem-solving skills

Nice to have

• Thyristor and transformer control, LV distribution & switchgear
• PLC/HMI programming and fault-finding (Siemens)
• Medium voltage systems knowledge
