Electrical Controls Design Engineer
Location: Burton upon Trent
Salary: Circa 45,000 - 55,000 (depending on experience)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Controls Design Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team, focusing on the design and development of bespoke electrical control systems. This position offers the chance to work in a thriving business that specializes in critical infrastructure and industrial services across multiple sectors including food, beverage, utilities, and high-security industries.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop electrical schematics, layouts, and wiring diagrams for control panels, ensuring compliance with customer specifications and industry standards.
Specify and source components such as PLCs, relays, HMIs, and sensors to optimize system performance and cost-effectiveness.
Develop and integrate control systems with broader industrial processes, ensuring seamless functionality.
Produce high-quality technical documentation including BOMs, test procedures, and user manuals.
Work closely with clients to interpret requirements and incorporate feedback.
Ensure designs meet relevant regulatory and safety standards.
Collaborate with internal teams for smooth project delivery.
Essential Skills and Experience:
3+ years of experience in electrical design, control systems, or a similar engineering role within manufacturing or industrial automation.
Proficient in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical or similar).
Familiarity with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and industrial communication protocols.
A degree, HNC, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field.
A full, clean UK driving licence.
