Job summary

FBC UK is seeking an Electrical Controls and Systems Manager for its Batley site. You will maintain, repair, overhaul, modify and install electrical and electronic plant, ensuring up-to-date backups and obsolescence plans. You will contribute to system development and support maintenance teams.

The role requires PLC experience (Siemens/Allen-Bradley), dispersing knowledge across the site, and ensuring adherence to safety and engineering standards. On-site work required with Monday–Friday shifts.

Qualifications

• HNC/TEC level qualification in electrical/electronic engineering or equivalent experience.
• Strong knowledge of PLC systems from Siemens and Allen-Bradley.
• Experience mentoring or coaching team members in a manufacturing setting.
• Experience with process/manufacturing engineering environments.
• Ability to read electrical diagrams and use electrical test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Manage risk and remove obsolescence in control systems.
• Ensure up-to-date backups of PLC programmes.
• Maintain a fully supported programme for VSDs (programme and obsolescence).
• Support fault repair and efficiency improvements on plant and machinery.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, hygiene and safety rules.
• Collaborate with Maintenance Manager to ensure compliance and efficiency.
• Assist production management and respond to breakdowns in control systems.
• Provide out-of-hours support for controls and systems issues to maintain availability.

About The Role

We’re looking for a Electrical Controls and Systems Manager to join our Batley site. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, overhauling, modifying, and installing electrical and electronic plant and apparatus. Key duties include ensuring up-to-date system backups, managing control and obsolescence planning, and contributing to system and control development.

Main Responsibilities

• To Manage the risk and removal of obsolescence
• To ensure we have up to date backups of all PLC programmes
• To ensure we have fully supported programme for VSD’s (Programme and Obsolescence)
• To Support the repair of faults and in-efficiencies on plant and machinery.
• To ensure that company standards, specifications/procedures, hygiene and safety rules are always adhered to.
• To work closely with and assist the Maintenance Manager to ensure compliance, and plant efficiency.
• To work closely with production management and respond to breakdown situations Control related
• To Support any controls and systems related issues outside normal working hours to ensure equipment availability

Who We Are Looking For

• Qualified to HNC/TEC level in electrical/electronic engineering or relevant, equivalent experience.
• Good working knowledge and experience of PLC controlled systems including Siemens and Allen Bradley.
• Proven experience mentoring and coaching team members.
• Experience within process/manufacturing or similar engineering industry.
• Working knowledge and experience of current I.E.E electrical wiring regulations and Electricity at Work Regulations'.
• Proven ability to use and understand electrical test and measuring equipment and ability to read and understand electrical circuit diagrams.
• Working knowledge of both single and three phase distribution and control systems and good working knowledge and experience of variable speed control drive systems.
• Experience of electrical installation work using cable tray/trunking systems, conduits, SWA and pyro.
• Good working knowledge and experience of instrumentation systems.
