Role details:

The role will comprise:

  • To take ownership and responsibility for the execution of all assigned work
  • To deliver fit-for-purpose, practical engineering design in line with specifications, budget, and programme
  • To support and promote all company and client site directives – HSEQ, best practice, innovations, continual improvement
  • To develop and retain excellent working relationships with key stakeholders
  • To maintain up-to-date knowledge and competence to support the role and to align with client’s and industry’s requirements and directives

Key Responsibilities:

  • Produce new and update existing detailed EC&I design documentation, including loop diagrams, control panel schematics, field connection diagrams, I/O schedules, control circuits, failsafe circuits, LV power distribution & protection, single line diagrams, control panel GAs and layouts, instrument air distribution and control, instrument air system layouts, instrumentation hook-ups, and functional testing procedures.
  • Comply with both national and site standards
  • Carry out site surveys
  • Compile document work packs
  • Comply with company and site procedures, typically – engineering design, project control, documentation control, procurement, verification
  • Support other activities such as estimating, commissioning, hand-over, procurement
  • Contribute to team(s) to support continual improvement
  • Work independently, using own initiative

Key Requirements:

  • ONC / HNC or equivalent in Electrical / Control / Instrumentation / Engineering discipline
  • HSEQ qualification (e.g., IOSH)
  • CompEx – ExF (foundation), ExF+ (foundation plus), or Ex01-04 (Gas & Vapours), Ex05-06 (Dust), or Ex12 (Application Design Engineers)
  • Functional Safety, IEC61508 – TUV or equivalent
  • BS7671:2018 IET Wiring Regulations - C&G2382-15 or equivalent
  • CDM regulations
  • 5 years recent experience in an equivalent role
  • Experience in industrial sector engineering
  • Experience in a COMAH Tier 1 Process Manufacturing Environment
  • Knowledge of ATEX directive
  • Experience with engineering design processes – scope, specification, site survey, detailed design, design review, design approval, issue for construction, commissioning, “as built” documentation
  • Document control processes – review, approval, issue, revision
  • Proficiency with EC&I engineering documentation – loop diagrams, control panel schematics, field connection diagrams, I/O schedules, control circuits, failsafe circuits, LV power distribution & protection, single line diagrams, control panel GAs and layouts, instrument air distribution and control, instrument air system layouts, instrumentation hook-ups, functional testing procedures
  • Experience with PLC and DCS systems
  • Equipment and material specification skills
  • Procurement & expediting processes
  • Installation processes – site surveys and measures, installation instructions, “as-built” records
  • Query processes – TQs, CVIs
  • Verification processes – pre-commissioning, commissioning, hand-over
  • Commercial processes – estimating, budgeting, programming
  • Knowledge of CDM project lifecycle
  • Strong PC skills – AutoCAD, MS Office, drafting tools, document databases, engineering design tools
