Job summary

UK Atomic Energy Authority in Culham, Oxfordshire, seeks a hands-on Electrical Commissioning Engineer to lead installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems for remote handling projects, with potential travel to external sites, including locations outside the UK.

Qualifications

  • Formal Electrical, Electronic or Engineering qualification required.
  • Experience delivering complex electrical systems in a practical engineering environment.
  • Experience testing and commissioning electrical systems.
  • Ability to interpret electrical schematics and assembly drawings.
  • Experience building, wiring and modifying electrical panels, harnesses and large electrical cabinets or cubicles.
  • Experience working in a safety-critical or highly regulated engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Testing and commissioning electrical systems to meet operational, safety and site requirements.
  • Installing electrical hardware, control panels, cubicles, harnesses and cabling for remote handling applications.
  • Lead the electrical commissioning activities across the RACE project portfolio.
  • Preparing and reviewing commissioning procedures, method statements and safety documentation.
  • Support manufacturing and assembly for electrical hardware and cabling systems.
  • Carrying out inspections and quality assurance during equipment build and commissioning.
  • Contributing to the development of engineering standards and best practices.
  • Take responsibility for commissioning activities, ensuring appropriate controls and documentation.
  • Supervising technicians undertaking electrical installation, testing and commissioning tasks.

About the Job

As an Electrical Commissioning Engineer, you will lead the installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems used in RACE remote handling projects. Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you will play a hands‑on role in delivering complex electrical equipment, ensuring it is installed safely, operates effectively and meets required standards. This role offers the opportunity to work across a variety of cutting‑edge projects and may include travel to external sites, including locations outside the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing

What You’ll Bring
