Job summary

Omega Resource Group is seeking an experienced Electrical CNC Maintenance Engineer for a Manchester-based role with flexible/field-based duties and UK travel.

You will install and commission CNC machine tools, diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance, and support customers with training and reports. The position offers autonomy, field mobility, and a clear path for career development.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience servicing and repairing CNC machine tools.
  • Strong electrical and electronic fault-finding skills.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC controls including Heidenhain, Siemens SINUMERIK and Fanuc.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Solid knowledge of servo systems, AC/DC drives, PLCs, and machine safety circuits.
  • Experience using electrical test equipment and OEM diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to work independently in a field-based environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel with overnight stays.

Responsibilities

  • Install and commission CNC machine tools and automation equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, electronic, and CNC control faults.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing.
  • Fault-find on CNC systems, servo drives, spindle drives, motors, PLCs, and safety circuits.
  • Support troubleshooting of CNC controls including Heidenhain, Siemens SINUMERIK and Fanuc.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, ladder diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Backup and restore CNC parameters and machine data.
  • Perform machine testing, calibration, and operational verification.
  • Provide technical support and training to customers.
  • Complete service reports and documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Liaise with internal departments regarding parts and technical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and site procedures.

Key Responsibilities - Electrical CNC Maintenance Engineer
