Job summary

Morson Edge is seeking an Electrical Building Services Engineer to contribute to design and delivery of electrical building-services solutions across infrastructure and Ministry of Justice projects, including prisons and secure facilities.

You will design power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms and security systems, and prepare calculations, drawings and specifications while coordinating with mechanical, architectural and structural teams.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical/Building Services Engineering.
• Experience designing electrical building-services systems.
• Knowledge of power distribution and lighting.
• Experience producing calculations and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit and BIM.
• Understanding Building Regulations and British Standards.
• CDM awareness and risk management.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
• Security clearance to Ministry of Justice.

Responsibilities

• Design power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, security systems and related electrical infrastructure.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, technical reports and equipment schedules.
• Support projects from survey and concept design through detailed design, construction and handover.
• Undertake site surveys, inspections and assessments of existing electrical installations.
• Develop practical solutions for refurbishment, upgrade and new-build projects.
• Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, architectural and structural disciplines.
• Use electrical design, modelling and calculation software.
• Support technical reviews and respond to construction-stage queries.
• Identify design hazards and contribute to CDM risk-management processes.
• Ensure designs comply with Building Regulations, British Standards and industry guidance.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers and operational stakeholders.
• Manage assigned work against agreed quality, budget and programme requirements.

We are recruiting an Electrical Building Services Engineer for a leading UK infrastructure consultancy.
You will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical building-services solutions across infrastructure and Ministry of Justice projects,including prisons and other secure operational facilities.
Applications are welcomed from developing engineers at Assistant level as well as established Building Services Engineers. The successful candidate will be appointed at the appropriate grade based on their experience.

About you

• A degree,HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering,Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience designing electrical building-services systems.
• Knowledge of power distribution,lighting and associated building infrastructure.
• Experience producing calculations and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD,Revit and BIM methodologies.
• An understanding of Building Regulations,relevant British Standards and CDM requirements.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Membership of,or progress toward membership of,CIBSE,the IET or another appropriate professional institution.
• Previous consultancy experience would be advantageous,together with experience of justice,defence,healthcare,education,transport or other operationally sensitive buildings.
• Candidates must be able to obtain the necessary Ministry of Justice security clearance.
