Job summary

Morson Human Resources Limited is recruiting an Electrical Building Services Engineer for a leading UK infrastructure consultancy. You will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical building-services solutions across infrastructure and Ministry of Justice projects, including prisons and secure facilities.

We welcome applicants at Assistant level and experienced Building Services Engineers; appointment will reflect experience and grade.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical/Building Services Engineering.
• Experience designing electrical building-services systems.
• Knowledge of power distribution, lighting and related infrastructure.
• Experience producing calculations and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, security systems and related electrical infrastructure.
• Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications and equipment schedules.
• Support projects from survey through handover and construction.
• Undertake site surveys and assess existing installations.
• Develop solutions for refurbishments, upgrades and new-builds.
• Coordinate electrical designs with other disciplines.
• Use electrical design, modelling and calculation software.
• Respond to technical reviews and construction queries.
• Identify design hazards and contribute to CDM risk management.
• Ensure designs comply with Building Regulations and British Standards.
• Liaise with clients, contractors and suppliers.
• Manage assigned work against quality, budget and programme.

Electrical Building Services Engineer

**Salary**: £32,000-£45,000

We are recruiting an Electrical Building Services Engineer for a leading UK infrastructure consultancy.

You will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical building-services solutions across infrastructure and Ministry of Justice projects,including prisons and other secure operational facilities.

Applications are welcomed from developing engineers at Assistant level as well as established Building Services Engineers. The successful candidate will be appointed at the appropriate grade based on their experience.

Key responsibilities

• Design power distribution,lighting,emergency lighting,fire alarms,security systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
• Prepare calculations,drawings,specifications,technical reports and equipment schedules.
• Support projects from survey and concept design through detailed design,construction and handover.
• Undertake site surveys,inspections and assessments of existing electrical installations.
• Develop practical solutions for refurbishment,upgrade and new-build projects.
• Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical,architectural and structural disciplines.
• Use electrical design,modelling and calculation software.
• Support technical reviews and respond to construction-stage queries.
• Identify design hazards and contribute to CDM risk-management processes.
• Ensure designs comply with Building Regulations,British Standards and industry guidance.
• Liaise with clients,contractors,suppliers and operational stakeholders.
• Manage assigned work against agreed quality,budget and programme requirements.

About you

You will have:

• A degree,HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering,Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience designing electrical building-services systems.
• Knowledge of power distribution,lighting and associated building infrastructure.
• Experience producing calculations and technical documentation.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD,Revit and BIM methodologies.
• An understanding of Building Regulations,relevant British Standards and CDM requirements.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• The ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Membership of,or progress toward membership of,CIBSE,the IET or another appropriate professional institution.

Previous consultancy experience would be advantageous,together with experience of justice,defence,healthcare,education,transport or other operationally sensitive buildings.

Candidates must be able to obtain the necessary Ministry of Justice security clearance.
